My Ideal Project
In my world, the ideal set of deliverables would be the design of the overall look and feel for a site or application, perhaps some icon work, then coding the front-end XHTML/CSS templates and allowing someone from your company — or a third party contractor — to handle the technical implementation of those templates.
But things aren’t always ideal…
My experience in the development market has given me a good eye for what works on the web and what doesn’t. Tasks like light scripting, content management system setup, usability design, and information architecture are only possible if the conditions allow it. Being well versed in multiple template languages from a variety of CMSes (including plain old PHP), I have a good handle on basic usability design and information architecture planning.
However, projects that require more formalized application programming, usability testing, or extensive Flash media should involve a third party that specializes in that area.
Consideration and Awareness
Now, because of my attention to detail, and pride in my work and presentation, my coding work is all W3C-friendly. Web Standards like XHTML and CSS ensure content will be available to the widest possible audience thanks to improved accessibility, support for mobile devices, and continued access in even the oldest browsers.
